Dr. Elsakr was the first to implement the concept of Rotational atherectomy for Coronary Intervention when he first came to Volusia County allowing patients who have complex coronary calcified plaque to benefit from the option of fixing their “Coronary blockages” percutaneously instead of having to go for open heart bypass surgery.

Dr. Elsakr is a pioneer of transcatheter aortic valve replacement. He was the first physician from Volusia County to train in Germany for this procedure, and co-start the program at Florida Hospital and has had great success, where patients that had restricted activity because of severely stenotic aortic valve, were able to regain their active life without surgical intervention, and improve their quality of life and long term survival.
